At Everards, one of our aims is to make a beneficial contribution to the communities in which we trade.
From our pubs raising thousands of pounds every month for local and national charities to the Everards Foundation being involved with projects throughout the Midlands, we really do contribute to the local community.
The Everards Foundation has donated over £2 million to local causes so far.
Everards are involved in a range of activities including the donation of raffle prizes to schools and fund raising groups in the area, the sponsorship of local sports clubs, the support of local charities and one off projects.
We are proud to support local causes including:
- Leicestershire Cares
Three members of our team have been recognised with 'Golden Heart' awards for their commitment to supporting local school children with their reading and numeracy skills. A number of our team support this scheme along with Interview Skills training and larger scale team challenges.
- Warning Zone
The Everard Foundation and the Company are proud to regularly support Warning Zone. This is an exciting education centre based in Leicester offering children a high impact 'learning for life' experience. This helps children to prepare for the greater independence in their teenage years.
In 2015 we raised £20,000 for Warning Zone by hosting our first fundraising dinner
We are also actively involved in the brewing community. We are members of a number of industry bodies:
- The Independent Family Brewers of Britain (IFBB)
- The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA)
- The British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA)
- The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII)
We support these bodies with their industry campaigns – see below for information on our current initiatives. In addition to our membership of these bodies we also support local trade campaigns such as the Leicester Best Bar None initiative.
We are proud to have developed the cyclops tasting notes which is now an industry standard. Cyclops is an easy to use set of descriptors to explain what a beer will look, smell and taste like. It tells you whether a beer is bitter or sweet and helps you to discover what you like and what you don’t, so that your choice of cask ale becomes easier in the future.
Cyclops is now run by an independent trust of which Everards is a member and all cyclops accreditations are carried out in our brewery. Visit www.cyclopsbeer.co.uk for more information on the scheme.
Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)
CAMRA is a voluntary organisation which promotes good quality cask ale and pubs alongside acting as the consumer's champion in the ale industry. We work with CAMRA’s head office on initiatives such as cyclops and campaigns such as stopping the beer duty escalator. We also have the ‘Everards & CAMRA Complimentary Club’ which is a free club for East Midlands based CAMRA members and offers a range of promotions and competitions throughout the year. Click here for full details.
We also work with a number of local branches and are proud to support several beer festivals including Leicester (www.leicestercamra.org.uk), Nottingham (www.nottinghamcamra.org) and Derby (www.derbycamra.org.uk). Look out for Everards ales at your local beer festival!
