Brewery Tour

Hello!
My name is Graham, I'm the head brewer at Everards, and I'm going to show you how we make our fine ales. It won't take long, so click 'Next' to continue!

The Mill
First, malted barley is ground in our mill to produce grist.

The Mash Vessel
The grist is added to warm water (known as liquor) to produce mash. The sugars in the grist are broken down ready for the yeast to work on later in the process.

The Lauter Tun
The mash is separated into sweet liquid (wort) and spent grains.

The Kettle
Hops are added to the wort to give bitterness and aroma. The mixture is boiled and then the hop residue is removed.

Fermentation Vessel
Yeast is added to the wort to react with the sugars and produce alcohol. After 3-5 days the yeast is removed and the beer is put into casks.

That's it!
After a maturation period, the ales get sent out to your favourite pub for you to drink. Cheers!
