Black Horse awarded CAMRA pub of the month
The Black Horse on Foxon Street, Leicester, has been crowned ‘CAMRA pub of the month' for June 2007.
The pub, owned by Leicestershire based Everards Brewery, was awarded the prestigious title after scoring highly with the judges on various strict criteria including beer quality and condition, pub atmosphere, décor and clientele mix.
Licensee Phil Gomersall has been at the pub for nearly four years. He said: "This is the second time we've won the title and I'm delighted our dedication to serving quality real ale continues to be recognised, the certificate will be displayed with pride at the bar."
Keith Williams, CAMRA branch chairman, said: "The Black Horse was a deserved winner due to the staff's passion for real ale, ensuring every pint is high quality and kept well. We were also impressed by the wide range of ales available, the atmosphere and the traditional layout of the pub."
