Black Horse gallops to victory
Drinkers at a pub in Aylestone will be glad to hear that their local is officially serving top notch ale after it was crowned CAMRA pub of the month for May 2007.
The sought after title was awarded to the Black Horse in Aylestone, owned by Leicestershire based Everards Brewery, following visits from the CAMRA branch's pub survey group which judged on criteria such as quality of beer, pub atmosphere, décor and clientele mix.
This is the second CAMRA Pub of The Month award won by Phil Jones who has been licensee of The Black Horse for sevenmonths.
Phil said: "We're delighted to have won the Pub of The Month Award. My staff and I work really hard to provide quality cask ales and it is great to have this effort recognised by CAMRA."
Phil has won the CAMRA award twice before when he worked as licensee of two other pubs in Leicestershire.
CAMRA branch chairman, Keith Williams, said: "There is always stiff competition for our pub of the month award and contrary to its name, we only present it when we feel it is well deserved.
"We chose The Black Horse as we were particularly impressed with the friendliness of Phil and his team as well as with the quality of its real ales."
