Face lift for the George and Dragon

Picture about this news item

Drinkers at The George & Dragon at Chacombe near Banbury are toasting the new look local as the pub has reopened following a major refurbishment.

The historical pub has undergone a £60,000 investment from Leicestershire based Everards brewery and licensee Richard Phillips which has renovated the interior and improved disabled access.

The pub has new stone flooring and has been re-decorated in a style sympathetic to its seventeenth century roots. It also has a new ladies toilet block and disabled facilities.

The menu has also had an overhaul and offers a wide choice of dishes  made with fresh, locally sourced produce wherever possible.

Licensee Richard Phillips said: "We're really excited to be re-opening the George & Dragon. It has had a real face lift which we hope our regulars will like, as well as attracting new customers."

The George and Dragon also houses Chacombe's only Post Office, which offers exactly the same services as any other Post Office, except for car tax renewal. It is open from 9am-1pm, Monday to Friday.
