New food offering at the Cheney Arms

Picture about this news item

With the smoking ban in full swing, one Leicestershire pub is focusing on quality food.

The licensees at the Cheney Arms in Gaddesby, owned by Leicestershire based Everards Brewery, have introduced a new menu since joining the pub in March 2007, focusing on fresh produce which is locally sourced wherever possible.

Gary and Pauline Healey have previously run three successful pubs in Jersey and have already experienced the smoking ban, which was introduced there in January 2007.

Gary, who has worked in the pub trade for nearly 40 years, said: "The ban poses a golden opportunity for pubs to raise their overall standard, and we realise that offering tasty, home cooked food of a high standard in a non smoky environment will appeal to many customers."

The menu features a variety of dishes such as scallops with bacon, seafood tagliatelle, and goats cheese with red onion marmalade, through to traditional and hearty meals including Sunday roasts and steak. The pub also has a specials board which changes on a daily basis, serves real ale and has four letting rooms with full English breakfast included.
