New look for the Paget Arms

Picture about this news item

The Paget Arms in Loughborough has undergone a major refurbishment and is now being run by business partners Billy Allingham and Barry Lount

The licensees, who closed the pub for two weeks in early July to undergo the £70,000 refurbishment, have revamped both the interior and exterior, created a dining area and introduced a food menu.

The Paget Arms is the latest venture for the pair who run two other pubs in the region, including the award winning Cow & Plough and the Time Bar, both of which are in Leicester.

Billy said: "We're delighted to have taken on the Paget Arms. We've introduced our famous door step sandwiches which are going down really well as well as launching an evening pizza menu."

Billy and Barry, who also run a micro brewery in Leicestershire, The Steamin' Billy Brewing Company, have also introduced their extensive collection of old pub signs and pub memorabilia to the locals.

Billy adds: "We've been collecting old pub signs for about 30 years and have about 300 now. Some are from auction, others are from eBay, and some even from council tips.

"The best are probably the original Guinness signs and the sign from the oldest pub in England, ‘The Old Trip to Jerusalem' in Nottingham. We hope our customers will appreciate them as much as we do."
