Refurb for the Royal Blenheim

Picture about this news item

The Royal Blenheim pub in Oxford is reopening its doors at xx pm on Friday 23 November following a £40,000 refurbishment by owners Everards Brewery and the licensee.

The refurbishment project has been designed to make the city centre pub more contemporary and welcoming, with new seating, a brighter colour scheme, lighting and extended wine menu.

Licensee Dan Smaje has been at the pub for five years and is also a semi-professional rugby player, as a fly half for Henley. He said: "The traditional Victorian pub will retain its character, but will now boast more defined eating areas, with comfy, leather booths, softer and more atmospheric lighting and a refreshed interior.

"We have also introduced a new menu, offering classic British pub dishes including award winning pieminister pies with mash, beefburger made from Aberdeen Angus steak mince, plus lighter lunches such as wraps and salads - using fresh produce from local suppliers wherever possible."

As well as a wider range of wines, the pub is looking to introduce more beers from around the world, including Leffe, Erdinger and Kastel Kru, while continuing to offer a range of traditional real ales.

Dan added: "We are really excited about the changes made and look forward to welcoming both regular and new faces.

"The new look pub will appeal to a broader clientele as both a popular lunchtime and evening venue. It is now more female friendly thanks to the improved food offering, choice of wines and the interior. Women love to have a good night out with their friends just as much as men do so we felt it important to make the pub more attractive to them."
