The Shakespeare Takes Centre Stage
Posted on 24th March 2009
One of our most historic Leicestershire pubs has been given a new lease of life thanks to the help and support of its regulars.
Customers at the Shakespeare in Braunstone rallied together to help complete a two day makeover, which has made the 16th century, thatched roofed inn brighter and more welcoming. Brewery staff also rolled up their sleeves to help with the cleaning, painting and decorating.
Licensees Bev and Roger Aspital said: “We have been running the Shakespeare since May last year and have been eager to make our mark and get the pub looking its best. The pub was in need of a makeover and it’s great to stand behind the bar and see the customer’s reaction when they walk in.”
As part of the refurbishment Bev and Roger have completely redecorated the Shakespeare’s bar and snug areas, tidied up the family beer garden and car park, added new furniture and opened up the old log fires.
Susan Mills, retail marketing manager for Everards, said
“This community deserves to have a pub it can be proud of and we hope that’s what this project will deliver. There will be regular entertainment, including live music and quizzes, plus function rooms available for hire.”
