Posted on 16th November 2009

During the event, which was held at Rothley Park Golf Club, licensees were joined by Chairman Richard Everard who presented the donation to Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough at an awards dinner held after the competition. There were also prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin. The team event was won by players from the Royal Oak pub in Kirby Muxloe, followed by the Recruiting Sargent in Great Gonerby and the Glen in Glen Parva

Rainbows provides specialist care for children and young people throughout Leicestershire with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as support and help for their families.

Community fundraiser Emma Lovegrove said: “We are extremely grateful to Everards for their kind donation and continued support of the hospice and its work in the community.

“It costs Rainbows £2.8 million every year to provide care for life limited children so all the support we receive is absolutely vital.”

Rainbows is currently seeking to raise £4 million to expand its hospice by six beds and develop care and therapy facilities on site specifically designed for use by over 18s.

More than £3 million has already been raised and the charity hopes to have the extension completed by spring 2010.To find out more or make a donation visit www.rainbows.co.uk.
