Posted on 23rd November 2009
John Savage, licensee of the Bluebell in Desford, carried out a sponsored slim over three months to raise more than £600 for the Leicestershire hospice. The total was raised through customers sponsoring John to lose three stone over the 12 week period, taking him from 20 stone to a trimmer 17 stone.
John said: “I had wanted to lose weight to give myself a better and healthier lifestyle and thought that organising a sponsored slim would give me more motivation and support from my customers and also raise funds for a worthy cause.
“My regulars have all been really behind me, coming in for my public weigh in every Sunday and even taking part in the Slimming World diet programme that I have been using, which has really helped me shed the pounds.”
John who is now a trimmer 17 stone is continuing his Slimming World weekly group meetings, healthy eating diet and regular exercise with a former professional football player so he can lose some more pounds and maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.
LOROS (The Leicestershire and Rutland Organisation for the Relief of Suffering) is a local charity providing care and support within Leicestershire and Rutland.
