Posted on 4th May 2010

The Elephant & Castle on Main Street,Thurlaston has been awarded Pub of the Year from the Hinckley and Bosworth district branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.

Licensees Lisa and Tim Brotherhood are no strangers to awards having won Morning Advertiser’s ‘Best Kept Cellar Award’ for the East and West Midlands last year.
Lisa said: “Tim and I are overjoyed that CAMRA have given us this award and recognised our accomplishments. It means a lot to us because the award is given by people who love real ale. And we love it too!”

The Elephant and Castle has a friendly atmosphere and tasty home cooked food on offer, as well as its award winning ales. It regularly holds fun events like the Bangers and Beer festival taking place in July and a ‘Meet the Brewer Nights’ to raise money for Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Lisa added: “This award proves we’re on the right tracks when it comes to running the pub for the community and people really appreciate all that we do. It’s nice to know that our food, the atmosphere and of course our cask ale is up to the high standard it should be.”

Lisa and Tim now go through to the next round of the competition, the Leicestershire Pub of the Year contest.

Everards’ Business Development Manager Mike Brown said: “The Elephant and Castle really deserved to win the CAMRA award. Lisa and Tim have a genuine enthusiasm for cask ales and the quality of their ales on tap at their pub is always outstanding.”
