Pub Voted Best For Families Bar None

The pub on London Road was voted the city’s most family friendly pub and was also a finalist in the category for best pub and highly commended for its business standards.
Licensee Kevin Shepherdson said: “We put a lot of effort into making our pub welcoming for families so to receive this endorsement is extremely satisfying. The Old Horse has a large beer garden which is secure and suitable for families to use, while our menu has a good choice of kids’ dishes with a number of healthy eating options included.”
Best Bar None award schemes are running in 80 different locations across the UK and Leicester is now entering its fifth year. Their aim is to promote the responsible management of licensed premises and recognise good practice.
The Leicester event was held at the City Rooms, a Georgian Grade I listed banqueting venue, and hosted by former Leicester City footballer Steve Walsh and snooker star Willie Thorne.
Kevin Shepherdson has been running the Old Horse for 15 years along with his wife Dee. The couple were among 15 high achievers singled out by Everards for their outstanding business performance earlier this year during the brewery’s annual Licensees Lunch at Leicester Racecourse.
