We're Proud of Pubs!
Posted on 10th July 2009
Proud of Pubs Week is going to be a busy one at Everards pubs.
Dates in the diary include 16 July, when village local the Soar Bridge Inn in Barrow upon Soar will show pride in its cask conditioned ale by launching a three day long beer festival. Up to 14 different ales will be on offer in both the main bar and function room and the festival culminates on Saturday evening with a celebratory barbeque. Licensee John Rozentals said: “This is the third year we’ve held a summer beer festival and it just keeps growing in popularity. We are trying to involve as many people as we can to create a real feeling of community spirit. Real ale as a product is definitely in demand so long as the quality is good and it’s an element of the great British pub definitely worth celebrating this week.”
Meanwhile we have been asking members of our Facebook group and Twitter page to join in with Proud of Pubs and support events taking place near them, while a local BBC Radio Leicester presenter will go behind the scenes at the Vikings Tun in Wigston to see exactly what’s involved in running a modern day pub business
Erika Hardy, marketing manager for Everards, said: “Just as Everards is proud of the beer we brew and the heritage of our business, our licensees are immensely proud of their individual pubs and will be using Proud of Pubs Week to communicate that message as widely as possible.
“It’s a tremendous initiative which is really starting to gather momentum within the industry as an effective way of celebrating the positive contributions pubs make to society.”
The Publican are looking to compile a list of 1001 things to do in a pub and we would love to hear your thoughts. Here are some activities which have gone on at Everards in the past year…
