Pink Cricket Raises Cash For Charity
Posted on 20th July 2009
Licensees of the Heathcote Arms in Croft, Julie Brown and Ian Adcock, organised the event as part of the Publicans Proud of Pubs Week campaign.
The match saw Heathcote Arms regulars battling it out against local team Croft Cricket Club.
Ian Adcock said: “Julie’s mum is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. When we found out it was devastating. We got talking about it to the locals and they came up with idea of holding a fund raising event to support a breast cancer charity. The cricket match seemed like a great way to get the community involved for a fun evening while simultaneously supporting a good cause.
“To emphasise our support for the charity my team of locals agreed to wear pink t-shirts and bras for the match. With a bit of luck it distracted the other team and helped us win!”
Breakthrough is the UK’s leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education. For more information on Proud of Pubs Week, Click here
