Auckland to Narborough – an Epic Journey (March’09)
Everards has been called upon to help bring an authentic taste of New Zealand to pub goers across the UK.
Over 80,000pints of Epic will go on sale exclusively in Wetherspoon’s pubs next month as part of an international real ale festival taking place in April.
Epic is one of 50 guest ales selected by JD Wetherspoon for what it claims is the World’s Biggest International Real Ale Festival. The line up includes ales from countries including the UK, Finland, Australia, America, Holland and Belgium
“We are proud to be associated with JD Wetherspoon’s- Worlds Biggest International Real Ale Festival and to have been selected to brew New Zealand’s champion pale ale,” said Nick Arthur, Everards Operations Director, Brewing & Sales
Everards have brewed the ale exclusively and has already welcomed Epic Brewing Company’s General Manager and Head Brewer, Luke Nicholas over from New Zealand to perfect the recipe.
Graham Giblett, Head Brewer for Everards, said: “It s a tremendous honour to be asked to assist with this project and a great endorsement to brewing not just in this country but especially the East Midlands region.”
Epic Pale Ale is a delicious hoppy beer which has performed remarkably well in New Zealand since its debut as a bottled product three years ago.
This will be the first time Epic Pale Ale has been served from a traditional cask, which is why Luke was so eager to fly across and work with the brewing team to finalise the arrangements.
Luke Nicholas added: “We are really excited at the prospect of offering our flagship beer on draught to UK pub customers. It is also fantastic to have had the chance to brew at Everards and be surrounded by so much history, brewing craftsmanship and passion for cask ale.”
