Licensees Strike Gold

Posted on 19th March 2009

Everards Licensees will see their creative talents showcased to customers when a beer they helped design goes on sale for the first time.

The group created Finest Golden Ale as part of an advanced beer and cellar management training course and were tasked with designing, brewing and naming a brand new ale for distribution across the Everards pub estate.

Their tipple of choice, Finest Golden, is a mid-strength ale (4.5% ABV) brewed with Maris Otter and crystal rye malts to create a golden colour and Goldings Hops for a distinctive citrus flavour and flowery springtime aroma.

Jim Hutton of The Plough, Littlethorpe said: “The course was fantastic and for the group to then have the opportunity to apply our new found skills and create an original product from start to finish was extremely interesting.

“We all agreed a spring themed ale was the strongest idea and likely to not only taste refreshing but also sell well at this time of year. Everyone is proud to see Finest Golden go on sale not only in their own pub but also in other Everards sites across the Midlands.”

Besides practical brewing skills, Jim and his colleagues also learned about the history of brewing, beer management, use of glassware and product merchandising during the intensive two day Gold Level training
