Chesterfield Arms Is Toast of the Town
Posted on 5th October 2009
The family run pub on Newbold Road, received the accolade from the Chesterfield and District branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.
The award coincides with the opening of a new function room called the Barn at the Chesterfield Arms, which has been created from a disused storage area and will be used to host beer festivals and private parties.
Landlord Oliver Brown, who runs the pub with his fiancée Jo and father Dave, said: “We are really proud to be recognised for our achievements by CAMRA. The branch have also confirmed we are one of six pubs nominated for their prestigious Pub of the Year title too.
“Quality real ale is an integral part of our customer offer and to know we are making a good impression with local CAMRA members is certainly reassuring.
“The timing is perfect following our investment in the new function room facility in partnership with Everards.
“We celebrated its completion and our award win with a three day beer festival, which included a choice of 24 cask conditioned ales and two ciders all brewed locally in Derbyshire. There was live music each night and the event was really well supported.”
The Brown family took over the Chesterfield Arms in February after it was acquired by Everards and are due to open a second pub, the Crown Inn at Beeston, Nottinghamshire, later this month.
