Accounts Assistant

About the role

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for all company cashier and sales ledger clerk duties. You will resolve customer account queries through investigation and establish the correct process required to resolve the issue and action. You will assist with all aspects of Purchase Ledger as required.

You will be responsible for

Cashier Duties

  • Process all customer receipts and payments from the bank statement
  • Process bank payments
  • Record, control and post all petty cash payments.

Sales Ledger Duties

  • Print daily invoices and post to customers
  • Resolve customer account queries i.e. copy invoice, proof of delivery requests and payment receipts
  • Process all supplementary invoice/credit note transactions and maintain accurate records and authorisation.

Purchase Ledger Duties

  • Update supplier details and open accounts
  • Match supplier invoices to purchase orders and enter credit notes onto Navision
  • Deal with all internal and external queries relating to purchase invoices and supplier payments.

Any other duties that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by your manager.

This Role Profile reflects the present requirements of the post. As duties and responsibilities change and develop the role profile will be reviewed and be subject to amendment in consultation with the post-holder.

You will need

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 GSCE grade 4 or above including Maths and English

Knowledge and Skills

  • Numerate and a methodical approach to work with attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines
  • Ability to work at pace, whilst maintaining accuracy
  • A strong customer service focus, and the ability to build effective working. relationships with employees and external stakeholders/suppliers

Personal Attributes

  • Enjoys working in a team, but able to work on own initiative
  • Must be trustworthy
  • Must be able to manage their own time

Other Requirements

  • Commitment to work towards and complete a professional accounting qualification (either AAT or CIMA) desirable
  • Full driving license desirable
