William Everard saw the opportunities created by the rapidly growing industrial economy in Victorian Leicester so the entrepreneur entered a partnership with Thomas Hull, a local maltster and together they leased premises on Southgate Street. It was here on 5th October 1849 that Everards Brewery was born.

Old Original is testament to our fantastic brewing team over the years, who continue the passion sparked by William Everard in 1849 at the Southgate Street brewery in the heart of Leicester. That’s something our Leicestershire fox happily raises a glass to!
