Soar Bridge Inn

29 Bridge Street, Barrow Upon Soar, LE12 8PN

About this opportunity

Sitting in the beautiful village of Barrow Upon Soar, is the Soar Bridge Inn, an immaculately presented pub with a traditional offering and a big warm and friendly welcome.

It attracts everyone, from families enjoying the garden and a delicious hearty meal, to friends catching up putting the world to rights over a good pint and even those passing by or taking walks along the canal who pop in to rest their weary feet and refuel.

The Soar Bridge Inn is known locally for its pie nights and Sunday carveries, which are very well supported. Walk inside and you will find a welcoming bar with a separate dining area and a brilliant function room that doubles as a skittle alley.

The current business owners have built on the strong sense of community in the village and in turn support local independent businesses by putting on an independent pop up night inviting small businesses to come and show off their products, as well as welcoming a weekly market in the pub car park and regular street food vendors including Greek cuisine, sweets and treats!

Barrow is renowned for its waterways and the pub sits just off bridge 28 of the River Soar. The pub has lots of groups using the pub and the pub supports local water events like the annual Easter paddle.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in the pub world who is looking to build on this already well-established business, which has room to grow and make their own.

It would suit someone who wants to be part of the community with a vision for an enticing food offer and a calendar of events bringing family and friends together from the local community and surrounding villages.

The community

Find out more:

Barrow-upon-Soar is a large village in Leicestershire and is pleasantly situated on the east side of the River Soar, and on both sides of the Midland Railway.

The village is 3 miles S.E. of Loughborough, and 9 miles north of Leicester and is known for a plesiosaur that was excavated here in 1851. The specimen of Atychodracon megacephalus, found in a lime pit outside the village, was nicknamed the "Barrow Kipper".

At the centre of the village is a roundabout with a sign depicting its skeleton. The skeleton is now on display at the Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, with a full-size replica at Charnwood Museum in Loughborough.

Barrow upon Soar is a popular bustling village with a full range of shops and local amenities close to open countryside, yet within commuting distance of Loughborough and Leicester via the train station.

There are fantastic schools within the catchment area together with a range of interesting independent shops, tearooms, six public houses and accommodation.

There is a superb selection of local groups and societies and Barrow has managed to retain the community at the heart of village life.

Barrow upon Soar even has its own railways station, located on the Midland Main Line between Leicester and Loughborough, 108 miles north of London St Pancras.
