Where their story began
We wish Mario and Tracey a very happy 30th wedding anniversary, as they celebrate in the pub where they met many years ago!
Wishing a very happy 30th Wedding Anniversary to Mario and Tracey Demartino, who, since taking over the reigns of the Plough pub in Duxford two years ago, have made it their own and become such a huge and well-loved part of the community!
This is such a heart-warming story as Tracey’s mum ran the Plough back in the 80’s and it’s where Mario had his first-ever pint! So, it will come as no surprise to hear that Mario and Tracey met in this very pub, that they now successfully run together.
With the pub being such a huge part of their lives, when choosing where to have their wedding reception, it was a no brainer. They celebrated on their wedding day 30 years ago today, surrounded by friends and family in the place that they now call home.
They have lived in the village all their lives and are extremely passionate about their local community. This has shone through always and especially during the lockdown, with the pub being shut their conversations have continued online and their Facebook page is alive with positive, happy chatter that has kept the community spirit high throughout lockdown.
Whilst the pub has been closed, this pair have not stopped. They have supported other local independents, continued supporting local charities and are currently doing their bit to help raise funds for the local school which tragically caught fire days ago. They have also supported and promoted the Duxford Community Larder, where people can bring take or share essential items.
The list of jobs that Tracey and Mario have undertaken to improve their pub for their customers in time for re-opening extends from painting and decorating throughout the inside and laying new floors in the bar, re-levelling and laying a new lawn in the beer garden, completing Covid training courses and re-planting garden areas to name just a few – They haven’t stopped to sit back and rest once!
“We hope that to celebrate their 30 year anniversary, Mario and Tracey are again surrounded by friends and family in the pub they love and take a minute to drink in the amazing work they have done and what they have achieved.” Says Gareth Smith, the couples Business Relationship Manager from Everards “They are a truly great couple and we love working with them, they bring such positivity to everything they do and we wish them all the happiness for another 30 years and more together.”
Please, raise a glass for Mario and Tracey and join us and the pubs customers and village in saying Cheers!
