The Royal Oak in Kirby Muxloe has been awarded the title of ‘Best Pub 2025’ by Peter Bedford, MP for Mid Leicestershire, after standing out amongst 13 nominated pubs from across the region — including six proudly Everards-run venues.
The announcement was made during a personal visit from Mr Bedford, who presented the award to business owners Sarah and Bob Flavell in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the local community, quality of offer, and warm, welcoming atmosphere.
In the video shared online of the visit, Mr Bedford praised the Royal Oak's “fantastic service and brilliant hospitality,” and later added:
“Impressed by their offering, I have also decided to book the venue for my 40th birthday celebrations!”
Run by Sarah and Bob since 2019 in partnership with Everards, the Royal Oak has gone from strength to strength, becoming a much-loved part of the Kirby Muxloe community.
Known for its stylish yet traditional interior, seasonal menus, and friendly service, the pub also features its very own deli, offering fresh produce, local cheeses, homemade cakes and more — serving not just customers at the bar, but the village itself.
At the back of the pub, you’ll find the Acorn Suite – a separate, self-contained events space with its own bar and outdoor area. Hosting many weddings throughout the year, it’s a much-loved setting where countless couples have celebrated their special day, alongside private functions, business meetings, and community events. Martin Bailey, Business Relationship Manager at Everards, said:

This recognition also shines a light on the work being done by Peter Bedford MP – and MPs across the country – who continue to support and champion local pubs. At a time when the industry faces significant challenges, it’s more important than ever to back the passionate people behind pubs and help these vital spaces not just survive, but thrive.
