Smoke and SpicePumpkin Ale
Our autumnal beer is dark chestnut in colour and full of the flavours associated with this time of year.
We’ve used English Goldings and Fuggles hops alongside Imperial Malt. Known as the creme de la creme of malts. Imperial Malt is Munich Malt's richer, more intensely flavoured cousin. It’s a highly kilned malt known for its depth of colour, flavour and aroma and it gives our Pumpkin Ale its full-bodied flavour and biscuit aroma.
To achieve the pumpkin pie spiced flavour of this beer we made a special spiced 'tea’, a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves which we carefully added to the brew in two portions. We added the first portion when it was brewed and then added a bit more post fermentation. The result delivers a warming but not overpowering spiced flavour which gives the brew an earthy character which is balanced with a sweet burnt toffee character.
