The Royal Oak

105 Main Street, Cossington, LE7 4UW

About this opportunity

Situated within the leafy village of Cossington, The Royal Oak is a traditional British pub serving home-cooked food, cask ales and a range of craft beer.

The Royal Oak is the only pub in Cossington, and as a result it is treasured by the whole village. It is well used by local villagers, particularly the local football and rugby teams, as well as being a place where people will drive from far and wide to enjoy a dish from their much-loved menu.

There is a large open bar area at the front of the pub, which is currently separated into drinking and dining sections. The homely and accommodating décor means that people who enjoy a meal at the pub, usually stay for another pint or two afterwards!

The outside beer garden is an extremely pleasant grassed area that contains several benches and is a renowned spot within the area as a place to enjoy a pint in a quiet and peaceful location.

There is also a skittle alley and two dart boards housed within a large function room in the pub’s beer garden, which plays host to two skittles and darts teams. The function room itself regularly hosts celebrations, parties and events, and there is real potential to utilise the room further in the future.

The upstairs accommodation has its own private entrance, and is a spacious and inviting living space, which would be a perfect for families or couples.

The Royal Oak is undoubtedly a real gem of the village and is a perfect opportunity for someone who wants to become an integral part of a friendly local community.

The community

Cossington is a perfect example of an English country village, the quiet setting coupled with the historical houses means the village is a revered location.

The village boasts an impressive church and local primary school, and Ratcliffe College is situated only 2 miles away.

Cossington is a very well-connected village, with the A6 and A46 both around a five-minute drive away. The city of Leicester is also only a twenty-five-minute drive, with other neighbouring villages including; Sileby, Rothley and Ratcliffe-on-the-Wreake.

The village hosts a famous annual Open Garden event on the May bank holiday weekend, where villagers will open their gardens to the public, and there are also local stalls, music and history displays, which usually attracts large groups of people from across the area.

Platts Lane recreation ground is situated within the village, which is the home ground for Sileby Vikings Rugby Club and Cossington Saints FC. Goscote Nurseries Garden Centre is located next to Platts Lane, and is a popular local business, particularly on the weekends.

Watermead Country Park is located on the outskirts of the village, which contains several lakes and scenic walking routes, and as a result, it is a popular running, cycling, sailing and fishing spot in the region.
